Rothe House Kilkenny
Rothe House Kilkenny is a fine example of a 17th century merchant’s house and is located in the heart of Kilkenny City, only a short walk from the Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel. The attraction is managed by the Kilkenny Archaeological Society and is home to over 2,000 historic artefacts which have been collected by the Society since 1947.
The Garden was opened in 2008 and is recreated as a historic garden from the 17th century and is one of the finest examples of its kind. It is divided into the Lower Garden with vegetables and herbs and the Upper Garden or Orchard.
The House is also the centre for Irish Genealogy in Kilkenny.
Rothe House and Gardens is open for visitors from April to October from 10.30am to 5pm (mon to Sat) and 3pm to 5pm (Sunday). From November to March is is open from 10.30am to 4.30pm (Mon to Sat). For more information visit their website – www.rothehouse.com.
