The Lost Town of Jerpoint - A Short Drive from Kilkenny

Unearth the unique history in  JERPOINT  with a  GUIDED  HERITAGE  TOUR  of the footprints of a deserted 12th Century Medieval town – you will be immersed in the importance of this once thriving  town called Newtown Jerpoint  (situated near Jerpoint Abbey) mostly only recognised within academic circles until April 2011 – when it was opened to the public. The site contains the Tomb Effigy of  ST. NICHOLAS (Bishop of Myra).

ANGLING for wild salmon and wild brown trout on a 2km stretch of the River Nore is available for the fishing season with ghillie, rods & bait available for hire.

SHEEP DOG DEMONSTRATION -  a fun and fascinating event to watch as it shows man and dog work together as one – herding.

JERPOINT  is 2 miles from Thomastown, a quaint town in a special area of conservation of flora and fauna & birthplace in 1685 of Anglican Bishop Berkeley philosopher and scientist.
